CEO Blocks Company's Pride Ad Campaign, 'Accidentally' Leads Family Pride Parade Float

December 31, 2024
In a stunning display of corporate hypocrisy that would make even the most jaded cynic raise an eyebrow (and possibly donate to a charity supporting LGBTQ+ rights), the CEO of MegaCorp Industries, Bartholomew Butterscotch the Third, today blocked his company's planned Pride Month ad campaign. He cited concerns about 'diluting the brand message' and a 'lack of synergy with our core demographic of beige-cardigan-wearing retirees.'

However, sources close to the Butterscotch family report that mere hours after this decision, Mr. Butterscotch was spotted leading a particularly enthusiastic family float in the city's annual Pride parade. The float, adorned with rainbow streamers and a suspiciously large banner reading 'Butterscotch Family: Proudly Supporting... Uh... Family Values!', featured Mr. Butterscotch, his wife (who wore a rather fetching rainbow sequined jumpsuit), and their three children, all dressed in coordinated rainbow attire.

"It was quite the sight," commented one parade attendee, "He was practically throwing rainbow-colored candy at the crowd. I overheard him shout something about 'maximum brand engagement' – albeit, maybe in a slightly different context than one might initially expect from a man who just torpedoed a Pride ad campaign."

MegaCorp has yet to release a statement, presumably because their PR team is still attempting to untangle the paradoxical knot of their CEO's actions. Some speculate that Mr. Butterscotch may have confused 'Pride' with 'Price' and genuinely believed he was leading a parade celebrating discounted consumer goods. Others, however, suspect a meticulously planned attempt to maximize personal brand visibility while simultaneously avoiding the expense of a corporate-sponsored Pride campaign. Whatever the reason, one thing's for certain: the Butterscotch family float was, in the words of another parade-goer, 'a whole lotta rainbow-flavored cognitive dissonance.'
